Re: What song are you listening to....RIGHT NOW?!
so i've been listening to a lot of minimal synth/electronic and noise for the past few months...
Xeno & Oaklander - Sentinelle (LP) by far the most astonishing duo of minimal synth musicians this decade. absolutely mesmerizing, their sound is so authentic. and they do their recordings usually completely live! analog synths only, no computers or digital.
Raymond Scott - Soothing Sounds For Baby (Volumes 1 & 2) this was some of the first electronic music in the early 60's. raymond scott made some absolutely interesting and psychedelic music for infants. haunting and beautiful.
Tangerine Dream - Phaedra (LP) Really dreamy and gorgeous electronic record from the early 70's by this fantastic krautrock band. One of the gems in their long, long discography.
Led Er Est - Dust On Common (LP) This band recently released a stunningly catchy and well composed dark synth-pop record. A definite stand-out and great live. They've toured with Xeno & Oaklander many times.
on the indie pop side of things...
Parenthetical Girls - Entanglements (LP) really lovely and baroque, i absolutely love 'a song for ellie greenwich'.

Re: What song are you listening to....RIGHT NOW?!
I just listened to a bunch of songs by the fleeting joys. The songs I just listened to are
Magnificent Oblivion, Destroyer, Luminous L.A., Patron Saint, You Are the Darkness.
If you like My Bloody Valentine, I'm pretty positive you'll like Fleeting Joys.
