Kaki Guitar Artwork
Hey everyone!
I set up this page as a forum for everyone to witness and provide (helpful) commentary on this art project I had in mind.
What I want to do is to meet twelve amazing artists, give them each a blank guitar, and let them go wild creating anything their heart desires. The theme of each piece would be the title of one of my songs, and my only artistic contribution would be to paint my fingers and 'play' the fretboard (wherever it ends up) as I would during the song so as to create a visual representation of where my hands travel.
Everyone tells me that my playing is best witnessed visually--so this is one interpretation of that statement. At the end of this project we're going to display all of the guitars in a gallery and throw a party with performances and perhaps the finalization of the last guitar.
Right now I'm extending an open call for artists to submit their websites/jpegs/etc. and ideas about how they could redesign/paint/burn/disembody/what have you a guitar. Those who have experience working with mixed media and found objects will probably do best with this. I will be honest--artists in the NYC area will be considered slightly more favorably due to the expense of shipping costs (and the fact that I like meeting people face to face), but I felt that it was unfair to limit the submissions to just my hometown.
If this is a project for you or anyone you know then please email kakiguitarart@gmail.com. Send any relevant links or materials, your basic bio, and if possible a song title that you'd be interested in. I will answer every single email personally and provide you with all of the relevant details that aren't already here.
For those non-visual artists, feel free to comment about the project, favorite song titles, and any other feedback you feel is relevant. I'll be updating this site and my own as the project progresses. And please, no haters. This is just supposed to be good creative fun.
Thanks for reading! Can't wait to see what y'all got!
love, kaki
Im soo in!

Re: Kaki Guitar Artwork
Hey guys.
As some of you guys might know I'm an art student in Toronto and I am absolutely stoked for this. I just finished first year so I have my portfolio all together and I'll be submitting photos tonight. I would love so much to do this. I'm gonna be making a deviant art with all my shit on it and I'll post the link in a few hours!
Lot's of love for the Kaki Family.

Re: Kaki Guitar Artwork
Yeah the comment she made on the photo about the guitars pile slowly dwindling mad me curious about that too. I still haven't gotten a reply about my initial two Ideas but i thought of a crazy new one out of the blue last night for Close Your Eyes and You'll Burst Into Flames! And it instantly made me excited about this project again. I hope she likes this one because it's insane and exciting a HOT just as a little hint. Not going to reveal anything about the concept until I hear just so i can keep some suspense, but if i don;t get one, which i'll understand, I'll tell you guys my concept!
Wish me luck once more and love and luck sent from the North to all other hopefull's!

Re: Kaki Guitar Artwork
good luck!!! hopefully, you'll get it!!!
so kaki wanted me to just get a guitar and run with whatever came to mind. here's the idea:
"these are the armies of the tyrranized" (with elements of yellowcake)
entire exterior: spray paint blue
reflects color and mood of song
back exterior: numerous drilled holes
act as gunshots, dripping red
FOR INTERIOR: christmas lights to illuminate holes, as if from a uranium bomb
front exterior: clay mold of bloody guts protruding out of soundhole
to portray the guitar as a living thing now tyrranized, bleeding and eviscerated
to contain limbs and heads of green toy army men
will be bleeding onto front surface
possible idea for exterior sides: citrasolv text, not fully formed yet.
this is the idea! feedback please?

Re: Kaki Guitar Artwork
i knowwww!
i have a full time job, too.
i might have considered quitting it early so i could work on this...
because i am moving August 22nd or so anyway.
i don't know yet. i procrastinate anyway, so i have a lot of experience with time crunches. I did almost all my internal assessments for the IB in single nights (and never got lower than a 6 out of 7).
