Musicians Institute Full Ride Contest: Listen to My New Songs and Vote For Joseph Zacker (me!)

Post  Guest on Wed Jan 27, 2010 8:48 pm

Hey all

Joseph Z here, the guy who did the Ahuvati guitar. I'm entered in the Musicians Institute of Hollywood's "Full Ride" contest, which is awarding a full scholarship and a $10,000 cash prize to the winner, to be determined by the "Buzz Factor" (whatever that is), and VOTES. There are 10 songs up on the page (link is below), so give a listen, and if you genuinely like what you hear, then register for a fan account (or an artist account, if you want to enter) and vote as many times as you can! If you're an artist and you add a comment on my page I'll return the votes.

By the way, all comments and constructive criticisms are greatly appreciated and welcomed wholeheartedly.

Thanks a lot!

Hey Joseph!

In general i like it. Nice drive and cool atmo. At least from the few songs i was listening to by now.
BUT your link brought me directly to: "DEAD (JUNGLE DUB MIX)". Don't know if there's just too much stuff going on in it or if there are so many different timings in it. But something definitely makes my Brain say "argh please make it stop".
So i skipped through the other tunes and felt relief. So good.
Good luck to you in the contest!

Thanks for the feedback. To be honest, I wasn't really thrilled with "Dead" for a couple of reasons. First of all, it's a re-recording of the song, which was pretty much completely different the first time around. Secondly, I spent a lot of time on the rhythm guitar, bass, drum tracks, synths and samples, and by the time I got to the recording of the lyrics and the lead guitar, I was pretty burnt out. I tried again and again to get a good take, but I couldn't get it quite right, and finally out of frustration I ended up just taking the tracks that sounded best, saturating them in delay, and just doing a quick master then and there. I still have all the original pieces to the song, and I hope to re-record it pretty soon here. It's either that, or just axe the lyrics and the lead guitar completely and just make it a jungle track.

Oh well. Again, thanks for the info; that's huge. I might even take that song down now... Who knows. Don't forget, everyone else, register and vote if you like the tracks above!
