A Constructively Critical View of Kaki's New Lineup Empty A Constructively Critical View of Kaki's New Lineup

So, I caught Kaki when she came to Colorado for 2 nights (one in Boulder, one in Denver). I just wanted to get some feedback on what I thought...

First of all, why no bass? I chatted with Dan after the Boulder show, and he mentioned he's using Apple MainStage to do bass tracks and a few other things, on a loop, so basically, they're playing along to the computer. Not necessarily a bad thing, but in my opinion, Jordan seems to get kind of isolated holding down the low end without a live bassist. Don't get me wrong here; they're all super-talented musicians. I just feel as if dropping Yuval didn't really make much sense.

Secondly, the acoustic songs in Denver were stellar. She whipped out an Ahuvati, and after telling everyone she hadn't played it in 3 years, it was absolutely flawless. The other acoustic tracks were awesome too...

That's it. Comments on the bassist-lessness? Does anyone agree that Yuval should be brought back?

Honestly, I don't really know. I just know I had a blast when she came down to Atlanta. No bassist? It still sounded great.
You got to hear Ahuvati live... Unfortunately, she didn't play it down here. Hahah.
But she did loop Gay Sons of Lesbian Mothers and came down and DANCED WITH US!
