I LOVE Until We Felt Red! Every damn song makes me feel like I have no cares in the world. I'm not a fan of Playing with pink noise or any from August rush.

Thats weird, cause i feel like almost every song on "... until we felt red" was so dreadfully boring and i didn't enjoy sitting there and listening to it.
I really enjoyed "Dreaming of Revenge" and "Everybody Loves You" the most.
"Legs To Make us Longer" is excellent, but there's some songs on that record i don't like very much. Example: "Doing the Wrong Thing" puts me to sleep. I personally don't like that track.
I don't know, i never got into "... Until We Felt Red"

And recently, i met Kate Cooper of An Horse, and Kaki covered them, so i asked Kate what song they were going to cover of Kaki, and she said "Jessica" and i was very disappointed. :[

i think ...until we felt red is so absolutely dreamy and puts me in a good place. its very meditative. and again, it saved me at a time when i was really hopeless.
and i could totally see an horse covering 'jessica' since it's in standard tuning and relatively simple to play, as well as a memorable song. i wouldn't expect them to cover something like ingots or 2 o'clock.

its weird cuz when UWFR came out i was all into like hardcore fingerstyle and pretty much listened to nothing else. so when it came out, i was obviously disappointed. but still loved songs like goby, soft shoulder, and these are the armies of the tyrannized..... but ya. then i discovered tegan and sara, and took a long listening brake from kaki king and began listening to other artists, and started to compose songs that could be sung to, and got really deep into more complex melodies and ambience rather than just acoustic guitar. then i started to listen to kaki king again and love UWFR. and love Dreaming of Revenge even more. i think that break from just fingerstyle let me appreciate how good layers and simple melodies can sound.
Dreaming of Revenge and Everybody loves You are deff my top 2 albums. i just love the contrast between the two, and love to hear her early stuff that i imagine her writing in a subway.

yes, jessica is pretty simple to play, or so i've heard.
but it was still a little disappointing, even though i doubt kate cooper could play 2 'O clock or something of that nature. But i could see An Horse doing an easier version of "montreal"

with me it was always about what was aesthetically pleasing about a sound or melody. i didn't necessarily care about the difficulty of the piece, honestly that shouldn't be considered in most cases when music is discussed on a pure listening level. the amount of expression and intensity in a song was always what intrigued me along with the layering and melodic content and harmony. ...until we felt red fills that perfectly for me. when i listen to kaki it's barely about fingerstyle guitar, and although i play fingerstyle guitar i find that technique is not as important as what is actually composed. kaki is a compositional genius.i went through a similar phase where i couldn't stand 'doing the wrong thing' since i thought it was boring. but one day it changed. i really heard the dynamic beauty and movement of the piece. what is alluring about kaki's music is essentially not how she plays the guitar but the place where she takes how she plays it. i think 'zeitgeist' is one of her best pieces, and it's not technically crazy it all. the feeling it expresses transcends a style. it's definitely beautiful and moving. definitely moving. kaki's music for me was more than technique, but composition. that's why i feel ...until we felt red is her best work.

lol. ya totally agree with you now. a few years ago i wrote this really crzy complex piece, and i played it back once i thought it was perfect, and i was like. this sounds like shit. lol. there was no melody or any sense of music, just really fast fingerpicking and tapping. but ya, im so glad im past that stage. one of my favourites will always be soft shoulder. its just so moving and so fast moving without even being fast moving at all. if that made sense. lol

oh yes, i do agree, if music gets too difficult or too technical, it wont sound much like music at all.
i just really liked dreaming of revenge.
every song fit perfectly to me, and i like all the songs separately, and i like them all played together, as an album concept.
Dreaming of Revenge is, in my opinion, the second greatest album ever, [neutral milk hotel's "in the aeroplane over the sea" is the best]
haha

not to antagonize or anything but zeitgeist is my favourite thing she's ever written. XP just curious to see what you find bad about it?
